I am currently a researcher at the Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague where I focus on Iran and the Persianate World. Previous positions include Kluge Fellow at the US Library of Congress, Distinguished Visiting Professor (Class of 1955 Chair in Middle East Studies) at the United States Naval Academy, where I taught courses on the history and politics of the Middle East and Iran, and Visiting Scholar and Social Science Research Council (SSRC) Postdoctoral Fellow for Transregional Research at Roshan Institute for Persian Studies at the University of Maryland.
